Action without thinking is disaster and thinking without action is daydreaming.
Looking at the present situation of our community, we all think and wish for improvement in all fields of life including education. But if we remain poor in action, our thinking is nothing more than daydreaming. Let us act now and work for some concrete results. All of us who are blessed with ease and comfortable life are under obligation to think deeply about how we can contribute to improve lives of less privileged, through better education.
Improving education in our community looks like a gigantic task but as per the simple wisdom, a journey of thousand miles starts with a tiny step; we should not be shy of taking small steps. Come and join Amanah Education in small actions to achieve a bigger dream. Consider one or more of the following options to contribute with your time, money, skills and experience to give a bright and rewarding future to all the aspiring students of our community.
If we all participate in one or more of the following activities it can have huge positive impact on education level of our community. All such efforts will not only bring improvements in the society we live but this will be a sawabe jariya, as long as our contributions continue to benefit others.
We have listed few action items for you to consider and participate.
- Creating environment for acquiring education.
Provide your input to create an environment where every child of our community not only acquires high education but aspires to achieve next level all the time.
- Creating environment of excellence.
Create an environment of excellence where a child has ample guidelines, examples to follow and sufficient resources to excel in the activity of his or her choice.
- Scholarship guidance.
Plenty of scholarships available all around for bright students. Not all the students and parents are aware of these scholarships. Students and parents need to know about these scholarships at least few years in advance in order to prepare and qualify for it. We have plenty of brilliant students who can qualify for such scholarships if we prepare them in time. Select any one or more of such scholarships in your field and prepare students around you for it.
- Coach for IOWA/ACT/SAT/–admission to a reputed college.
All parents dream of sending their child to a reputed college. Such colleges would not only offer better carrier for their child, they also offer generous financial aids for deserving candidates. Getting admission in such colleges entails lot of hard work and advance planning. Most of our students and parents are not aware of possible options, opportunities, and challenges they can encounter to avail these opportunities. The situation can be worse if the parents are less educated or financially not doing well. They will not think about requirements until it is very late. Timely guidance, advance planning and preparation will help a student in getting in to a reputed college and taking full benefits of generous financial aids such colleges offer to a bright candidate. If you are well acquainted with any of such process, offer your services and help the students of community.
5 Coach for competitions ….like spelling bee, geographic bee, science fairs, and robotic teams. Make every child a winner.
Coach them, Nurture them, Inspire them.
There are competitions for students in every field of education, just like spelling bee there are competitions in geography, math, and science with very generous prizes. Apart from prizes and gifts, such competitions increase focus of students, give them fair idea on how to face stiff competition, empower them with self-confidence and inspire them to work hard for achieving their goals. Instill the confidence to participate. Teach the child that bringing home a trophy is not the only goal, if they participate and try their best – they are winner.
- Career Counseling.
Most students need this guidance while they are in 7th or 8th grade; lack of this guidance will result in them settling for a lower career than what they are capable of. This is truer when parents are not very literate or less careful. Many students have desire and talent but lack of knowledge of suitable options at appropriate time forces them to opt for an ordinary career. If such guidance reaches them in time, it will help them to achieve higher goals by being admitted to the right course, college or university, this will create a larger pool of well qualified members in the community.
- Skill development for out of school.
Despite best efforts by parents, teachers and community members few students will drop out of school. It is best to train them for a technical skill, and some out of school courses. So that they can earn well and spend a respectable life. Please read our article Mission Education on this topic.
- Contribute financially to support weaker.
There are thousands of students who are talented, full of dedication but they lack financial resources. Many organizations are active supporting such students, pick up an organization that work to help such students and in your opinion they have good impact on improving education in our community. Help them with a monthly contribution of any amount that you are comfortable with.
- Share information and ideas.
