11. CDS (clinical documentation specialist) is a registered nursewho manages, assesses, and reviews a patient’s medical records to ensure that all the information documented reflects the patient’s severity of illness, clinical treatment, and the accuracy of documentation. The national average Clinical Documentation Specialist salary is $71,632.

12. Medicalcoders read a patient’s medical chart and analyze it, determining the patient’s diagnoses and any procedures performed. They then categorize those diagnoses and procedures according to a national classification system, assigning a specific numeric or alphanumeric code to each diagnosis or procedure. The median annual Medical Billing Clerk salary is $36,324, as of August 03, 2017, with a range usually between $32,879 $39,936.  Medical coding certifications from AAPC are the gold standard in the healthcare industry. Certifications are nationally recognized by employers, physician societies, and government organizations. AAPC medical coding certifications are a must for anyone interested in pursuing a career in medical coding and billing.
13.Dietitian is an expert in dietetics; that is, human nutrition and the regulation of diet. A dietitian alters their patient’s nutrition based upon their medical condition and individual needs. What degree should you earn if you want to become a dietitian? The short answer is a bachelor’s degree in dietetics, foods, and nutrition; food service systems management; or a related area. The median annual Dietitian salary is $58,797, as of October 30, 2017, with a range usually between $53,519-$64,608, however this can vary widely depending on a variety of factors.

14. Phlebotomyis the practice of drawing blood from patients and taking the blood specimens to the laboratory to prepare for testing. As a phlebotomy technician you are an important member of the clinical laboratory team. An average training cost in these institutions will range between $700 and $1,400. The best indicator of phlebotomists’ incomes is probably the salary survey performed annually by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. The 2010 edition of the ASCP survey found that the average hourly wage for phlebotomists was$13.50 per hour or $28,080 per year.

Dental assistantsperform many tasks, ranging from providing patient care and taking x rays to recordkeeping and scheduling appointments. Aiding the dentist during procedures helps to increase productivity. … The term “four-handed” dentistry is also used, referring to the four hands of the dentist and dental assistant working together during the procedure. A dental assisting program can take anywhere from nine months to two years to complete, depending on whether it’s a certificate, diploma or degree program. The median annual Dental Assistant salary is $35,482, as of August 03, 2017, with a range usually between $31,489-$39,233.

16.The MLT programis a two-year curriculum leading to the Associates in Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technician. Completion of pre-requisite courses will be required prior to entering the program.  The median annual Medical Laboratory Technician salary is $49,579, as of August 03, 2017, with a range usually between $44,398$54,454; however this can vary widely depending on a variety of factors.

17. Histologistis a professional who studies the microscopic structure of tissue. To become a histologist, a student must earn a bachelor’s degree that includes a one-year clinical internship or complete a multi-year training program in a histopathology laboratory. They also must pass a national examination. The median annual Histology Technician salary is $56,109, as of October 30, 2017, with a range usually between $49,656$61,791, however this can vary widely depending on a variety of factors.

 18. Paramedicsand emergency medical technicians (EMTs) care for the sick or injured in emergency medical settings. The median annual Paramedic salary is $40,878, as of October 30, 2017, with a range usually between $36,702$46,585, however this can vary widely depending on a variety of factors. University programs charge about $800-$1,000 for basic EMT training that lasts from one month to three months, depending on whether students attend fulltime or part time The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, for example, offers a 138-hour training program for EMTs that costs $850. Coursework and training to become an EMT-basic or first responder can generally be completed in as little as three weeks on an accelerated basis.

19. Microbiologists study microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi, and some types of parasites. They try to understand how these organisms live, grow, and interact with their environments. The median annual Microbiologistsalary is $44,884, as of September 27, 2017, with a range usually between $39,895-$51,115; however this can vary widely depending on a variety of factors.  Aspiring microbiology scientists are required to earn at least a bachelor’s degree in microbiology or a closely related field.  Microbiology majors take courses such as microbial physiology, virology, chemistry, biochemistry, and physics. Some microbiologists practice with two-year associate degrees in a scientific field such as chemistry or biology, but most have at least a four-year bachelor’s degree from a college or university.

20. Telemetry Technician.

A telemetry technician course usually takes about 120 hours  of study, although expanded courses can double the time. Telemetry technicians learn to apply EKG leads, recognize and interpret heart rhythms. Technicians are prepared to work in hospital intensive care units, telemetry departments or other areas that provide heart monitoring services. Most programs require a high school diploma or GED.

Telemetry technicians might work in hospitals, outpatient care centers, clinics or physicians’ offices. Many telemetry technicians choose to become certified through agencies such as the American Certification Agency for Healthcare Professionals or the Cardiovascular Credentialing Institute, and some employers prefer to hire certified technicians. A specialized cardiovascular technician may earn up to 40K annually.
