Twelve Activities to Improve Education Part III
Twelve Activities to Improve Education PART III –
We listed six activities to improve education in earlier articles; remaining six activities are listed here.
7. Inspire.
Instill desire to achieve and excel. Inspire students to excel in everything they do. Fill them with burning desire to work hard, achieve and excel, this will make them self-driven. Inspire them to set higher goals and not settle for lesser one. Guide them how, with patience and perseverance they can attain their goals. This one quality will help them in every field of their life and will bring immense success and prosperity in their life. They will figure out their way towards the goal, no matter how much obstacle they face. We will have to support them here and there occasionally.
8. Mentoring.
This tool has helped many individuals in many different fields for long time. With advent of internet and modern communication tools this has assumed new dimensions, now we can help someone living far away from us. Refer our story of Remote Mentoring. Our world is full examples where because of mentoring young and adults have achieved magnificent results, set new mile stones and created history. This is true in education, art, sports and other fields.
If we have collected some valuable lessons in the life through hard work and painful experience, it is best to pass on these lessons to next generation by way of mentoring.
- Career Counseling.
Most students need this guidance; lack of this guidance will result in them settling for a lower career than what they are capable of. This is truer when parents are not very literate or less careful. Many students have desire and talent but lack of knowledge of suitable options at appropriate time forces them to opt for an ordinary course. If such guidance reaches them in time, it will help them to achieve higher goals by being admitted to the right course, college or university, this will create a larger pool of well qualified members in the community.
- Skill development for out of school.
Despite best efforts by parents, teachers and community members few students will drop out. It is best to train them for a technical skill, and some small out of school courses. So that they can earn well and spend a respectable life. Please read our article Mission Education on this topic.
There are large numbers of skills required in manufacturing, service and government sector. In fact some time there are acute shortages for a particular skill. We should keep tab of such demands and train kids for such jobs.
- Resume Writing.
This is very important but overlooked item. When hiring manager is flooded with hundreds of resumes for a given post, applicants need very appealing resume to attract the attention of a recruiter. This is specially the case for a position in a reputed company. Many of our fresh graduates have little knowledge of how to put to gather an impressive resume. Some guidance at this point will definitely help them to make a good start of their career.
- Join Amanah Education.
Last but not least, join our mailing list so that we can exchange ideas and information, we can unite and work together. Let us come together to figure out how we can contribute to the betterment of our community through education.
Items listed above and in previous articles are not new brilliant ideas; these are basic but very essential ides. What is important is that we start working on these or join those who are working on these items; the landscape of education in Muslim community will change very quickly for better, InShaAllah.
Take some time and think which of this activity you would like to do. Either do it all alone or form a small group and start, do it at your own pace. But do it.
