PAY WHAT YOU WANT
A while ago we came across a flyer from a mosque, announcing an IT related course, offering course at PAY WHAT YOU WANT. Classes included resume building and interview preparation, which is very crucial at initial stages of job search. Another important feature of offer was that all fees collected were to go to the mosque where classes were conducted.
This is an excellent model to payback to community. The instructor was achieving double advantage with single effort, helping students on one side with affordable tuition structure and helping mosque with all the funds collected.
Another example is of one individual from India, who retired from a senior position in pharma industry. After retirement, he started training fresh pharma graduates for job interview. He fixed a price for his services, but payment was optional, due only after the candidate gets the job and if candidate is satisfied that he/she benefited from his training.
Definitely, Allah SWT will reward such individuals immensely in this world and in aakherah. All the knowledge, wealth, health and every other resources we possess are blessings from Allah (SWT). All the blessings are trust from Allah (SWT) we must use these resources to help the less fortunate among ourselves.
If more and more people offer their knowledge and skills in this manner, our community will soon be a vibrant community InShaAllah.
